Opening Friday March 7th from 7:30-11:00

MASS Gallery is pleased to announce O Stone Be Not So, a group show of contemporary kinetic sculpture and large-scale kinetic installations.  The show will feature the work of, Andy Holtin (Washington, DC), Jenny LeBlanc (New Orleans, LA), Troy Stanley (Houston, TX), Gregory Witt (Pittsburgh, PA) and Katie Wynne (Houston, TX).

With the availability of simple programmable controllers and many low-cost elements of higher end robotics available for the home market, hackers, makers and artists have been working together with astonishing results. The artists in our show not only apply a hacker’s curiosity and inventiveness to the mechanical but to the very cultures and assumption that have arisen around our technology.

Our show will highlight the different materials, purposes, approaches, inventions, and outcomes that are products of the desire to make things move! Linked by the presence of physical movement in the works, these five artists quickly disperse into explorations of thoroughly disparate approaches and concepts.

MASS is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin through the Economic Development Department/Cultural Arts Division believing an investment in the Arts is an investment in Austin’s future.
