We are pleased to be hosting an evening of conversation, with independent curator X Tara Bhattacharya and Swedish multi-disciplinary artists Leif Elggren and CM von Hausswolff. During the evening they will discuss and examine the influence of Swedish mystic Emanuel Swedenborg and Friedrich Jürgenson, pioneer of electronic voice phenomenon (EVP).
This event will give an opportunity to learn about their solo and collaborative projects, including their longest running conceptual art project, The Kingdoms of Elgaland-Vargaland (KREV). Initiated in 1992, KREV is a conceptual free state, declared to exist on the frontier areas between all countries, any interstitial territories such as the human Hypnogogic state (between dreams and awaking) and in the virtual realms.
The evening will culminate with the screening of a three part film collaboration between CM von Hausswolff and Thomas Nordanstad: Hashima, Japan (2002), Al Qasr, Bahriya Oasis, Egypt (2005) and Electra, Texas (2008).
This conversation is part one in a three part performance series featuring the work of Leif Elggren and CM von Hausswolff, sponsored and curated by X Tara Bhattacharya.
