MASS is excited to announce a public screening of The Way Things Go, on Friday, April 4th. The Way Things Go is a film by Peter Fischli and David Weiss, which documents the actions of a giant casual chain the artists constructed in a 100 ft warehouse. The current exhibit on view at MASS Gallery, O Stone, Be Not So, displays art work by 5 different artists who use kinetic elements in their art. We chose this 30 min film from 1987 for our Close Encounters public screening because it is truly the grandaddy of Rube Goldberg-like kinetic machines on film.
ABOUT CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
As an expression of MASS Gallery’s mission to create meaningful and significant moments for artists and viewers to connect, MASS introduces Close Encounters. In line with the continual effort to provide artists with the physical and mental space to challenge and develop their practice, Close Encounters will be a platform for them to reflect on their process while providing new avenues for gallery audiences to experience contemporary practices.
